Wahyu Widio Sari Introduces Ethnopedagogical Science Learning in Cambodia ✨

Science learning becomes more meaningful when it connects with culture, daily life, and real experiences. This inspiring approach was brought to Cambodia by Wahyu Widio Sari, M.Biotech., Ph.D., lecturer from Universitas Sanata Dharma and also part of the Krya Global team.

Dr. Wahyu participated in a series of international educational activities in Cambodia following her role as Head of Judge at the International Creativity Innovation Award (ICIA) 2026, organized by Krya Global in Phnom Penh from July 24–26, 2026.

The international forum brought together innovation, research, and educational practices from various countries. Beyond the competition and judging sessions, the program continued through a meaningful Mission Trip focused on educational service and community engagement. This activity was featured in the Harian Jogja newspaper on May 9, 2026.

One of the featured sessions, “Biotechnology for Teachers,” — held at Institute of Integrated Tahfiz Cambodia — encouraged educators to discover that science exists all around them. Through simple and enjoyable learning experiences, participants explored how curiosity and scientific thinking can grow without relying on sophisticated laboratory equipment.

Dr. Wahyu’s ethnopedagogical approach also highlighted how local culture and life experiences can become powerful entry points for building creativity, scientific reasoning, and the courage to experiment among young learners.

The journey continued at Achievers International School, where students explored biotechnology through hands-on activities using leaves as simple learning media. By connecting science with everyday objects, students were able to experience science in a more human-centered, accessible, and enjoyable way.

These meaningful activities demonstrated that science is not limited to laboratories — it can be discovered in the environment around us and learned through creativity, curiosity, and real-life experiences.
